Take Control Of Your Life And Nail It

“I’m going to be a CEO of my own company!”

“I’m going to have my own talk show!”

“I’m going to travel to every country in the world!”

The 8-year-old ‘you’ wanted to become an entrepreneur, singer, dancer, actress, artist, scientist, hair stylist, author, and so many other amazing careers.

But, reality sucks.

You didn’t get the grades you wanted in school. You may have had some problems at home that caused you to lose focus or give up on your dreams. You’ve had someone counting on you to support them – a parent, brother, sister, or even a cousin – and you’ve had to grow up way too fast.

No 8-year-old kid would say these things:

“I’m going to drive a beat-up old car and never have any money for gas!”

“I’m going to drop out of school and live check-to-check!”

“I’m going to be miserable at work and have my co-workers make my life a living hell!”

Uhhh….Nuh!

The moment you take control of everything in your life, is the moment that you can change anything in your life!

Stop waking up like it’s an accident. Know what you want and go after it.

All you have to do is make a decision.

Who do you want to be? How much do you want to make? What kind of house do you want to live in? What car do you want to drive? What do you want in your marriage? What do you want for your kids?

Finding out the answers to those things is a good place to start. But in the meantime, let me give you a few tips on how to get up and working towards your personal goals.

3 Ways to get your goal in life

1.Think Stupid

That’s right. I said what I said.

Think crazy stupid. I want you to go wild with your imagination and believe you can do anything you put your mind to. Doubt is the main killer of dreams and goals. Most people don’t even try to go after the things they want simply because they didn’t think they could do them. Get out of that line of thinking because it’s toxic! I once had a piano instructor tell me that small children learned to play at a faster rate because they didn’t doubt themselves and just did as they were taught. This is true with all things. Sometimes it’s best not to think… just do it!

2. The Detail is in the Numbers

You have got to be really specific with your dreams and goals. Think about the exact amount you want to earn each year and how long it will take you to do that. How many hair salon customers do you need? How many sweet potato pies do you have to bake? How many school hours do you need to put in? This way you can track your goals as you go along and will know where you are. Every small victory is worthy of a celebration because you worked hard for it! Break up your goals into mini-goals and know them out.

3. Fight for your life

You don’t know how much time you have left to execute on your dreams and goals. You have to fight for the life you want to create and wake up every single day and go after it. Another day is not promised so don’t put off until tomorrow what can be done today. Life has a way of throwing curveballs at you and placing you in situations that you never expected. You have to act now and keep in mind that you’re fighting for your future and the future of the ones who will come after you. Don’t push it off. Do what you can now.

Take care of the small stuff. Keep working hard at the diner, keep taking that stanky ol’ bus, keep working hard to pay off your debts. But keep dreaming and striving towards your vision.

You only get ONE life.

FIGHT!

Great , I also connect with ” im not bossy , getting things done in our life takes a strong women and sometimes you just have to step out in faith and get it done. Which may at times have others saying that you are to bossy. Joy in our life starts with yourself .

I totally agree. There are goals and I have given myself to achieve and even gave deadlines for when I should have them completed. And yes some I have achieve but others I haven’t. But I really don’t know if its out of fear of failure or what. So I guess I should think stupid and just go for it.

Great tips ! I really connected with the “im not bossy. Im a boss” line . Being a black woman Especially , having authority sometimes comes off as being angry or bossy. This post was really helpful and fun to read.

Wow. This is something I agree with whole heartily! I’m such a procrastinator. Then get mad when a dead line is near and I’m busting my but to get something done.
